Frequently Asked Questions

Does Vital Mind accept Medicare or insurance payments?

Unfortunately, insurance does not value functional and prevention medicine. Our providers have opted out of Medicare, and we are not a contracted provider with any insurance plan. This means we are not allowed to accept payment from Medicare, and the costs for our services cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement. Some labs might be covered by Medicare, but there is no guarantee. If you have private insurance, you may seek out-of-network reimbursement from them on your own.

Does Medicare or other insurance cover labs ordered by a Vital Mind practitioner?

Most of the advanced testing we utilize, especially for prevention, is not covered by Medicare or other insurance.  However, “basic” testing such as cholesterol, blood counts, some hormones, and electrolytes are. We can help guide you in determining if using your insurance or our practitioner discount (typically a fraction of the cost) is most advantageous for each test.

What is included in your programs?

Health coaching is included and integral to all our programs. Our multi-month packages also include the use of personal monitoring devices such as a nighttime oxygen monitor, ketone and glucose monitor, and continuous glucose monitor.

What is not included in your programs?

The cost of Apollo Health Subscription, supplements (~$100-300/month), and additional labs are not included.

How do I manage appointments with Vital Mind?

As a telemedicine practice, all of our consultations happen in the comfort of your own home, over a secure website. We use Zoom, as many are familiar with that technology, and the sessions can be recorded for later reference. We are also happy to do home visits for patients residing in the Triangle or Triad areas of North Carolina.

How do I get started?

Book a complimentary “clarity call” when we can discuss your story and how we can help. Following that call, we can set up a time for your initial visit.

How do I prepare for my visits?

Plan on 30 minutes for the complimentary “clarity call,” 90 minutes for your initial visit, and 60 minutes for each follow-up. Regular visits will be on Zoom, and may be supplemented with phone calls.
